Teamevent wine trail Weinfelden 17. June 2023

The weather could not have been better for our excursion! At shortly after 09.00 we picked up the WEINWEG-bag, a cotton backpack, at the SBB counter at the train station in Weinfelden. In it were a wine glass, a small mineral water with cup, napkins, dextrose, flyer with code for the wine safes and a Rebkern-bread.

The approx. 9 km long path led us first through Weinfelden past the house of Reto Scherrer (oldest vineyard family in Weinfelden) and then up the hill towards Ottoberg. In total we covered 200 meters of altitude. So we had to earn our glasses of wine first!

On the way, we were allowed to taste two glasses of wine at each of the two wine safes. In between, we treated ourselves to a bottle of white and rosé wine at a rest stop with a fantastic view, which we obtained from the nearby winery. On the whole way we met information boards with a lot of interesting facts about the wine region Ottenberg and Weinfelden.

From the beautiful village of Ottoberg, we descended to Boltshausen. On time at 12:30 p.m. we reached the farm and Torggel of the Neuweiler-Aus der Au, Neuweiler-Aus der Au family, where we were allowed to taste four delicious wines. In addition, there was a cold plate with bread and water for everyone. Drinking a lot was of course important in these hot temperatures.

Strengthened, we set off in the course of the afternoon on the 40-minute return journey to Weinfelden. A delicious farmyard ice cream was of course not to be missed. But a bit exhausted and almost unharmed (unfortunately Karin's wine glass broke already at the first wine safe) back in Weinfelden, we rounded off our successful "trail" with a cool beer.
